But my build usually uses strike craft and disrupters to directly attack hull and makes heavy use also of shields to deal with their pure energy weapons. 2.lithoid clones, necrophage purifiers. There's a few builds that work very well. The strongest is the still the Fanatic materialist, Xenophobic, technocratic oligarchy with meritocracy (and masterful crafters later). Make a species with Engineering, natural intelligence and sedentary, use the mechanist origin. This is a very straightforward and strong build. It stacks lots of bonuses to the most important jobs, namely the Researcher (to advance through the tech tree) and Metallurgist (to produce ships), as well as boosting secondary jobs like the Bureaucrat and Artisan. It's very straightforward to play and quite strong. A fleet of 50+ corvettes, more if you can afford them. Weapon loadout whatever works, but try to get them to 90% evasion. Then the rest of your fleets are battleships and titans with only your long range weaponry. Corvettes are a very solid unit with its high evasion. There are three weapons that seem to be doing best on Corvettes. Missiles have excellent range and medium firepower, Disruptors bypass shield and armor but deal low damage, and Autocannons have very high damage but suck against armor. The reason for that is that vassals are completely useless and are little more than trophies that give you a slightly higher victory score.
